Public Art

Thermoplastic and painted public art, from murals and 3D street art to sculptural ground graphics, that turns a tired civic or community space into somewhere people notice and enjoy.

What is public art?

Public art from Uniplay is decorative thermoplastic and painted artwork made to order for public and community spaces, from town centres and parks to business sites and school grounds. It covers wall murals, 3D pavement and street art, sculptural ground graphics and themed community installations, so a plain square, path or forecourt becomes a feature people stop at. Every piece is drawn around the setting, its brief and the people who use it, and the theme, colours and layout are agreed with you before any work starts. It is one type of playground markings we design and install.

Why do schools choose public art?

Makes a plain space memorable

A mural or a piece of 3D pavement art gives a dull square, path or forecourt a focal point, and gives the people who pass it every day something worth looking at.

Built for public footfall

Thermoplastic artwork is bonded to the surface and holds its colour under constant foot traffic and weather, so it keeps working in a busy public space long after paint would have worn.

Designed around your community

We draw each piece for the setting and its brief, so a town-centre scheme, a park trail or a school courtyard each gets artwork that fits the place and the people using it.

What types of public art do we install?

Murals, street art and ground graphics for public and community spaces.

Wall murals

Themed and educational murals made to order for walls, hoardings and fences in schools, parks and town centres.

3D pavement and street art

Illusion and anamorphic ground art that reads in three dimensions from the right angle, for squares, walkways and events.

Sculptural ground graphics

Large-scale decorative graphics and wayfinding shapes laid into pavements, play areas and the public realm.

Themed and community installations

Custom schemes built around a local theme, event or group, for parks, business sites and community spaces.

How do we install public art?

Survey, design, install and aftercare, and most of it is ours to do.

  1. 01

    Survey

We visit the site, check the surface is sound and suitable, and talk through the brief, where the piece will be seen and how it will be used.

  2. 02

    Design

We draw the artwork to the space, agree the theme, colours and layout, and send the design for you to approve before we start.

  3. 03

    Install

We prepare the surface and apply the artwork on site in dry weather, working around public access where needed.

  4. 04

    Aftercare

We can extend a scheme, refresh it or add further pieces on a later visit.

What does public art cost?

Public art is priced per job, because every mural, ground graphic or installation is made to order for the size of the space, the detail of the design and the condition of the surface. We visit the site, draw the design and send a free design and a detailed quote, with no hidden costs and our price match promise, before any work begins.

Prices exclude VAT

Payment terms and any site-dependent charges, for example an aborted visit or extra cleaning, are set out in our terms.

Public Art: your questions answered

What counts as public art?

Public art covers murals, 3D pavement and street art, sculptural ground graphics and themed installations made to order for public and community spaces. We confirm what suits your site, then draw the design to the space.

Where can you install public art?

We work in town centres, parks, business sites, community spaces and school grounds, on sound walls, pavements, paths and suitable fences. We check the surface first and will say honestly if it needs attention before it can take a design.

How much does public art cost?

Public art is priced per job, because each piece is made to order for the space and the design. We send a free design and a detailed quote, with no hidden costs and our price match promise, before any work begins.

Is public art durable outdoors?

Thermoplastic artwork is bonded to a properly prepared surface and holds its colour under foot traffic and weather, so it stands up well in busy public spaces. We prepare the surface first so the finish lasts.
