The UK government announced on 5th July that school’s PE and Sports Premium Funding would be continuing at the increased rate of £230 million during the next academic year. Schools are also able to transfer any Sports Premium funding, which hasn’t been spent due to the Coronavirus pandemic, over to next year.
These announcements come as fantastic news for UK schools, helping them to build on their resources to encourage physical activity throughout their pupil’s education.
PE and Sports Premium spending is monitored by Ofsted and so, it is important that schools consider how this budget is being spent to meet the requirements for all children’s physical activity levels. However, as playground markings can be used by pupils of all ages and are a key part of break and playtimes during the school day, they are the ideal way to spend PE and Sports Premium funding.
At Uni-Play we have worked with many schools on their playground redesign projects, many of which have been funded by Sports Premium. From sports courts through to traditional playground games and mile-a-day tracks – we can create a bespoke playground design to meet your pupils’ requirements.
PE and Sports Premium funding is often £16,000 per year, split into two payments in September and April however as many schools are able to transfer their remaining budget through to the next academic year, your playground markings project can begin whenever you are ready.
