Our thermoplastic road marking process

Thermoplastic road markings have gained popularity over the past few years for their safety and high visibility. At UniPlay we partner with local councils and highway agencies to create long-lasting thermoplastic road markings to improve road users’ experiences across the UK.

Our road markings ensure the safe flow of traffic and can be used to communicate any changes in the road to drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Our road markings are easy to install and ready for use within 30 minutes of application making them the superior choice for busy roads.

UniPlay thermoplastic road marking process

Thermoplastic material is composed of coloured pigments, glass beads, timber filler, and other additives bound together in synthetic resin. At UniPlay we specialise in designing and manufacturing preformed thermoplastic road markings.

Prior to application, our team will conduct a site visit to determine whether the road needs any preparation. The team will then map out where the thermoplastic road markings will be applied. As we design all our markings inhouse, we can create any style or colour, marking for your project, we will also adhere to the highway code for public road marking projects.

On the day of application, we clean the area and remove any moisture by using heat, this ensures the markings will adhere properly to the surface and remain durable. We also use primer to ensure the markings are applied properly and are long lasting, which is essential in a road marking project.

Following this our installation team then lay out the preformed thermoplastic road markings, deciding where these should be placed accurately. Once the markings are then laid out we then apply heat to the surface, which starts the application process. For some projects we can apply a glass resin, followed by more heat.

Thermoplastic typically adheres strongly to tarmac, asphalt, and concrete. Once dry, thermoplastic road markings can last up to 10 years with little maintenance. The markings are anti-skid making them ideal for use in all weather conditions.

High quality thermoplastic road markings

As a leading provider of road markings, we understand the need for quality. Our thermoplastic road markings are made from high-quality materials to guarantee durability and safety of all road users.

They do not lose their vibrant colours ensuring all road users can see them. They are also skid resistant with super retroreflective properties for improved visibility at night and in poor weather conditions.

Our team is also equipped with technologically advanced equipment to ensure that you do not incur additional costs associated with hiring equipment. Each process from design to installation is handled in-house to maintain consistent results.

As a thermoplastic road markings contractor, we are committed to delivering high-quality results for both large- and small-scale projects. We also offer road markings repair and maintenance services.
