Modern playground ideas to keep primary school pupils engaged

Throughout our time in the playground marking industry, we have seen a huge number of trends and themes become popular. However, now more than ever, are schools looking for modern playground ideas to keep primary school pupils engaged during breaktimes.

We understand how complex this can be, including different abilities, interests, and age ranges within one school can seem like a difficult task. However, our design team have spent years creating bespoke markings for schools, using our creativity and knowledge to provide solutions to schools throughout the UK.

Colourful and engaging sports courts

When designing a modern playground for children throughout their primary school years, we advise our schools to integrate some colourful and engaging sports court designs. Using vibrant colours and interweaving these courts with other designs will help pupils of all abilities and interests to find something they are interested in.

Sports court markings are also fantastic for use in PE lessons and sporting clubs outside of school, therefore providing further opportunities for children to engage in physical activity.

Traditional markings with a modern playground twist

This could be considered a contradiction however, traditional playground markings are still extremely popular amongst primary school children. Our creative team design traditional playground games with a modern twist, using cool characters, engaging wording and eye-catching colours. Examples of our traditional markings can be found via our website however, as we design everything from scratch, get in touch to discuss your vision and we can bring it to life.

Mile tracks and trails

Often for primary schools, creating a modern playground which also helps to meet the requirements for one hour of physical activity per day for their pupils is a priority. This is where we recommend a mile trail or track that pupils can engage with during their own independent play. Helping them to understand how far they’ve walked, run or skipped will help them further engage in activity and set themselves goals.

Again, we design our mile tracks to be engaging and creative, including characters, themes such as video games, therefore our modern solutions for playground markings exceed your pupil’s imaginations!

Road safety and car markings

Another benefit of having a modern design for your playground, is being able to include educational lessons for pupils. Our road safety and car markings not only help children to use their imagination and play an active role in create play, but they also provide the resource to each key road safety lessons. We’ve had many schools utilise these markings to help their pupils understand the importance of road safety and learn this in a safe and informal environment.
